Black Ridge provides discreet investigative support to attorneys, boards, founders, family offices, and senior counsel preparing for decisions in which the cost of being wrong is large. The work is verification, not surveillance — confirming what matters before serious commitments are made.
Typical engagements involve the kinds of questions that don’t get answered by standard background checks or public records searches: the unexplained gap in an executive’s history, the regulatory action at a small firm that never made the news, the litigation that was settled and sealed, the reputation in an industry that is well-known to the right twenty people but has never been written down. These things are findable when the right work is done.
Our discipline emphasizes fact-finding, relevance, and containment. We focus on identifying what is material, what is peripheral, and what requires further verification. Reports are written for the client, not for distribution. Subjects rarely know they have been examined.
